Dates to Remember
All of March- Reading BINGO!
March 14th- Spring Pictures
March 17th- Half Day
March 23rd- Half Day - Parent Teacher Conferences
To celebrate Read Across America, Dr. Seuss’s birthday, and to encourage students to read regularly at home, we will have a reading incentive for the month.
Each child is receiving a BINGO board. Their goal is to read 4 books in March and work to get BINGO on their genre board (across, down, or diagonal). Once they read a book, they will complete a reader’s log about their book. Each log requires a parent signature. They can bring these logs in as they complete them and we will mark off that box on their BINGO board in school.
BONUS – If students achieve a BLACKOUT, (ALL boxes done and 16 submitted logs) they can have a special lunch with the 4th grade teachers!
Students have received all their logs and should keep them in a safe place at home. Each Friday we will celebrate their reading and continue to encourage them with different “theme” days, following the schedule below.
Friday, March 3rd: Drop Everything and Read!
Friday, March 10th: Decorate Bookmarks for our Troops
Week of March 13th: Read with a “big” or “little” buddy during the week
Friday, March 24th: Dress up like your favorite storybook character
Please encourage your child to read at home. We are very excited to do this fun activity with the students this month!
