Academic Information

  • Math - Students should routinely practice all math facts in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to maintain fluency. Place value, the properties of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division continue to be important skills that third grade students continue to practice. A solid foundation in the basic skills help students develop a strong understanding of geometry, geometric measurement, and fraction skills.
  • Writing - Students should always independently apply grammar and conventions in all written work across the curriculum.
  • Reading - The only way to become a better reader is to read. Adult models at home are just as important as in school. Students are encouraged to challenge their thinking by reading and discussing higher level texts with peers and adults. Reading to younger siblings, parents, or even stuffed animals helps to improve fluency.
