English Language Arts in Room 101
In literacy we will focus on character, plot, setting, and theme. Some of the reading skills that we focus on will be making inferences, using context clues to figure out unknown words, drawing conclusions, sequencing events and building fluency and comprehension. We will talk about what we read and discuss the characters in the story, the problems the characters experience and tell how the problem is solved. We will focus on the reading genres of fiction, nonfiction, persuasive, informative and biographies. Our first writing will be an informational piece on Bats. The other writing genres will be narrative and persuasive.
Math in Room 101
Currently, the students have been learning how to find the Perimeter of Polygons. Ask your child to sing the Perimeter song for you! During National Education Week we will be making perimeter t-shirts. Invitations went home in your child's folder on Thursday, November 10, 2016. Hope to see you! We will move onto double digit subtraction with regrouping and then start multiplication!
